With a few sheets of tissue paper, a bit of contact paper and some ribbon, your children can create some fun window decorations that are perfect for Christmas.
We all love the look of stained glass — and with a few easy-to-find materials, your little ones can create their own miniature kid-friendly stained glass ornaments.
Supplies:
- Clear contact paper
- Tissue paper in assorted colors
- Hole punch
- Ribbon of your choice (we used silver gift wrap ribbon)
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Little assistant
Directions:
- Lay the contact paper on a clean workspace.
- Ask your assistant to use a pencil to trace circles onto contact paper (these can be any diameter you or she choose).
- Leaving the paper backing on the contact paper, have your assistant cut out the circles and set them aside.
- Lay a sheet of tissue paper out on your work surface.
- Fold your tissue paper a few times. This step not only makes it easier to cut the delicate tissue, but it also saves tons of hole punching time.
- Have your assistant hole punch the tissue paper and create a pile with her confetti.
- Have her repeat this step with the remaining colors of tissue paper, forming additional confetti piles.
- Remove the paper backing on one of the contact paper circles and lay it on your work surface, sticky side up.
- Form a loop with your ribbon and place the ends on the contact paper to secure in place.
- Have your assistant sprinkle the confetti in whatever pattern (or no pattern) she chooses.
- Peel the paper back from another circle and carefully place, sticky side down, over the decorated circle.
- Hang your stained glass ornament and congratulate your assistant on a job well done!
