Tissue paper Christmas ornaments

With a few sheets of tissue paper, a bit of contact paper and some ribbon, your children can create some fun window decorations that are perfect for Christmas.

We all love the look of stained glass — and with a few easy-to-find materials, your little ones can create their own miniature kid-friendly stained glass ornaments.

Supplies:

  • Clear contact paper
  • Tissue paper in assorted colors
  • Hole punch
  • Ribbon of your choice (we used silver gift wrap ribbon)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Little assistant

Directions:

  1. Lay the contact paper on a clean workspace.
  2. Ask your assistant to use a pencil to trace circles onto contact paper (these can be any diameter you or she choose).
  3. Leaving the paper backing on the contact paper, have your assistant cut out the circles and set them aside.
  4. Lay a sheet of tissue paper out on your work surface.
  5. Fold your tissue paper a few times. This step not only makes it easier to cut the delicate tissue, but it also saves tons of hole punching time.
  6. Have your assistant hole punch the tissue paper and create a pile with her confetti.
  7. Have her repeat this step with the remaining colors of tissue paper, forming additional confetti piles.
  8. Remove the paper backing on one of the contact paper circles and lay it on your work surface, sticky side up.
  9. Form a loop with your ribbon and place the ends on the contact paper to secure in place.
  10. Have your assistant sprinkle the confetti in whatever pattern (or no pattern) she chooses.
  11. Peel the paper back from another circle and carefully place, sticky side down, over the decorated circle.
  12. Hang your stained glass ornament and congratulate your assistant on a job well done!
