Easy snowman snow gauge
Part fun and part science, you can keep track of how much snow has fallen with this DIY snow gauge.
Supplies:
- Paint stick
- White paint
- Paintbrush
- Black marker
- Orange marker
- Black craft foam
- Small piece of fabric or ribbon
- Scissors
- Ruler
Directions:
- Cover the paint stick with a coat of paint. (Tip: If you live in an area where snow falls in feet instead of inches, ask for an extra-long paint stick at the hardware store.)
- Once the paint is dry, lay a ruler alongside the paintbrush. Mark off every inch with a black line, then number each line beginning at the bottom of the stick.
- Draw eyes and a mouth on the top of the paint stick with a black marker, then use the orange marker to draw a carrot nose.
- Cut out a hat from the black craft foam and glue it to the top of the paint stick.
- Cut a narrow strip of fabric and tie it around the notch in the stick to make the snowman’s scarf.
- Take the snow gauge outside to measure how much snow has fallen!
