Plan ahead
Megan Moore, child, family and wedding photographer and TPW team member, has a soft spot for golden sunset light and emotion-filled moments.
She explained that when she photographs her little sweetheart, she does her homework well ahead of time. “When I set up this shoot, I knew I would be dealing with an energetic little girl (my daughter). I knew I had just a few minutes for photos before she turned pouty and bored. To help things run smoothly, I did the prep work before telling her what was going on. I cut out the hearts, strung them up in the room with the best light, set up my camera, chose my settings and figured out the best spot for me to shoot from. Then I went and told her that we were going to have ‘super short, fun photo shoot!’ She changed quickly for me (the outfit was new, so there was no fighting about wearing it) and we went right in to do photos. Sure enough, six minutes later, she was D-O-N-E, done. But by preparing ahead of time, I had already gotten what I needed from her, so we were both happy.”
