List making is way more fun when you have your own personalized clipboard at the ready. We can’t think of a better place to jot down those summer bucket list ideas.
If you made your summer bucket list and it got buried in a stack somewhere or if you haven’t even written yours yet, it’s not too late to get out there and start working on those summertime to-dos! Supplies:
- Clipboard
- Chalk paint
- Paint roller or wide brush
- Masking tape
- Assorted lengths of ribbon
- Craft glue
- Small binder clips
- Chalk
Directions:
Step 1: Tape a line
Apply masking tape in a straight line across the top of the clipboard, just beneath the clip.
Step 2: Paint
Using a foam roller or wide paintbrush, apply one even coat of chalkboard paint. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Step 3: Apply a second coat
Apply a second coat of chalkboard paint. Again, allow the paint to dry completely.
Step 4: Remove tape
Gently remove the masking tape.
Step 5: Cut the ribbon
Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to completely wrap around the clipboard with a bit to spare so that the ribbon overlaps on the back of the clipboard.
Step 6: Glue
Place a line of glue along the front of the clipboard, just above the line where the chalk paint ends. (You could use hot glue for this, but I kept it kid-friendly and used a tacky craft glue instead.)
Step 7: Attach the ribbon
Apply ribbon atop the glue, slightly overlapping the chalk line. Use small binder clips to hold the ribbon securely in place.
Step 8: Finish the ribbon detail
Once completely dry, flip the chalkboard over and apply another line of glue along the back. Smooth one side of the ribbon into the glue. Apply a dot of glue to the end of the ribbon. Spread the other side of the ribbon across the glue and over the other end of the ribbon. To keep the ribbon taut, secure the ends with a small piece of tape until dry.
Optional: Repeat the process, layering on additional lengths of ribbon until you have achieved the desired look.
Step 9: Dry, cure and enjoy!
Allow the glue to dry completely. Remove the binder clips and the piece of tape. Cure the chalk paint by rubbing a piece of chalk over the paint and then rubbing it off with a soft cloth or eraser. Start dreaming up your list of summer musts!
