Fisher Price announces massive recalls: Infants and toddler products recalled

Toymaker giant Fisher-Price, one of the most popular and well-known manufacturer of children’s items, has issued a major recall on 11 million items for infants and toddlers. High chairs, tricycles, inflatable balls and cars have been recalled due to choking, cuts and other potential injuries.

Fisher Price Massive Recall

There have been over 20 reported incidents of injuries to children from the recalled Fisher-Price items, including cuts requiring stitches from high chair pegs and genital bleeding among two- and three-year-old girls from protruding key parts on plastic toddler tricycles.

The following items were included in today’s massive Fisher-Price gear and toy recall in the United States and Canada:

Fisher-Price tricycles

• Items recalled: Trikes and Tough Trikes toddler tricycles
• Potential health hazard: Children being cut by sitting or falling against protruding plastic ignition keys
• Other info: Sold from January 1997 through September 2010 for about $25

Fisher-Price high chairs

• Items recalled: Healthy Care, Easy Clean and Close to Me high chairs
• Potential health hazard: Children being cut by falling on the protruding pegs of the high chairs
• Other info: Sold from September 2001 to September 2010 for between $70 and $115

Fisher-Price toys that come with inflatable balls

• Items recalled: 1-2-3 Tetherball, Baby Playzone Crawl and Cruise Playground, Baby Playzone Crawl and Slide Arcade, Baby Gymtastics Play Wall, Bat and Score Goal and Ocean Wonders Kick and Crawl Aquarium (models C3068 and H8094)
• Potential health hazard: Children choking on the detachable valves of the inflatable balls in these baby toys and soft gyms

Fisher-Price toys that come with cars

• Items recalled: Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Stand ‘n Play Rampway (models T4261 and V6378); includes only purple and green cars marked “Mexico” and that do not have a yellow dot on the bottom
• Potential health hazard: Children choking on the detachable wheels of the purple and green cars
• Other info: Sold from April 2010 through September 2010 for about $45
