10 Australian mum bloggers who have broken the mold

For many of us, relatable and refreshing parenting blogs are what we use to get by in the toughest mummy moments. These mums who blog have truly broken the mold by tackling the good, the bad and the ugly parts of parenting with unprecedented honesty. Whether you’re a new or seasoned parent, you’re likely to see yourself in at least a few of our favourite Australian mum bloggers:

1. 365 Days – A Diary of a Newly Single Mum

Just as the title of the blog suggests, Naomi was a 32-year-old mum to a 4-month-old baby when she lost her husband, best friend and home to an affair (as you might’ve guessed, her husband was having an affair with her best friend). Naomi set aside 365 days to grieve and recover, with blog entries that are now being turned into a book. Naomi’s 365-day healing process also inspired her to start LIFT e-magazine for single mums around the world.

2. Adriel Booker

Adriel is the writer at this amazing blog, and once you’ve read a few of her posts, you just want to invite her over for a cuppa. She’s warm, honest, funny and endearing — her posts will either make you sigh or giggle. Plus, she’s the founder of The Love A Mama Collective, a project that empowers women and girls in the developing world, and with the help of her husband, she leads inner-city missions in Sydney.

3. Essentially Jess

Jess is the sassy mother of four who blogs (and vlogs!) at Essentially Jess, formerly Diary of a SAHM. The home page for her blog says it all — hopeful, authentic and a little bit of crazy! It’s not hard to find something on this blog that makes you giggle.

4. Five Little Reasons

Danielle’s story is unique in that, while she married young and dreamt of having a large family as many girls do, she ran into a few hurdles along the way. Danielle’s blog speaks to a specific audience because, while it’s all about the family fun and her five little “reasons,” she also writes candidly about being married to a husband with bipolar 2 disorder. Whatever your personal struggles may be, Danielle’s friendly blog is a nice bit of sunshine, focused on “finding magic in the everyday.”

5. Life, Love and Hiccups

We knew Sonia had to be on our list when the first post we read was entitled, Oh Crap, I Accidentally Bought my Son a Hash Pipe! She has eight (yes, eight) sons, likes shopping and vodka (not necessarily in that order) and loves to change her hair colour. The more time you spend cruising around her blog, the more you wish she was your fun neighbour.
