Growing up, some of the most treasured memories for any child are those filled with magic and wonder. The memories that stay with them into adulthood are memories that have been thoughtfully created by the ones who love them most.
Egg-cellent!
This Easter, why not surprise the kids with a treasure hunt and create some long-lasting and fun memories? Here are some tips to keep them guessing this Easter.
Treasure hunt
When the kids wake up on Easter morning, instead of handing over a mountain of eggs and chocolate Easter bunnies, get them thinking and playing by creating a backyard treasure hunt. Hide eggs in the house, in the backyard, in cupboards and drawers. Give the kids a basket each and let them go on an adventure. They’ll be running around the house, giggling until they’ve found every last egg.
Keep it simple
Depending on the age group of your little ones, you might want to create a treasure map and leave clues for the kids to find their Easter bunny bounty. Leave clues around the house and around the backyard and with every clue, leave a small chocolate egg until they reach their chocolate gifts at the end. Keep the clues simple for the kids, don’t test them too much — it is supposed to be fun after all.

Create a story
Make the treasure hunt really special for the kids by creating a story. Perhaps the Easter Bunny has lost all his eggs and your kids have to find them for him. This will make the treasure hunt all the more exciting and memorable for them.
Fun and games
Organise simple but fun games along the way that will keep them entertained while they’re on their hunt. Try games like egg and spoon races or three-legged races, this will break things up for them too so that they’re not just searching for and eating chocolate the whole morning.

Clever clues
A great way to keep the suspense going throughout the search is to create a map where the main treasure is hidden. Draw a map of your house and yard and cut this map into pieces, maybe four to six pieces — don’t make it too difficult for them. Hide the pieces of the map in different areas around the house and once they have found them all, the kids will be able to go after the big treasure.
The treasure
Make sure you hide the main treasure well — you want to make sure that the kids don’t find this before they get a chance to search for it with the map. Plan ahead, find good hiding places for their Easter eggs and the whole family is sure to have fun with this one.
