Top 10 items Kate Middleton will want in her hospital bag

Every mum excitedly packs a hospital bag before their impending due date, but for Kate there could be some extra creature comforts she wants.

What’s in her bag?

Packing for the birth of the Royal Baby

Every mum excitedly packs a hospital bag before their impending due date, but for Kate there could be some extra creature comforts she wants.

So, what does the most watched woman in the world pack in her hospital bag?

Of course she will have the essentials and follow the hospital guidelines such as packing nappies, creams and clothes, but we’ve also got a few other ideas about some luxury items that can make the experience a little more comfortable.

For the mother

Before she even leaves for the hospital, the Duchess will want a stylish bag to pop all of her items in. If, like Kate, you want to travel in style, check out the Monique leather nappy bag. Specially-designed nappy bags offer handy organising compartments and are waterproof.

For comfort and freedom Kate might like to pick a special birth outfit that is loose fitting and without restrictions. A popular choice is a nightgown or dress like the Womama Birthing Wrap, which the creators say, “… is specifically designed for labour and birth, made from supersoft cotton, [and] allows for quick easy access for skin to skin contact once your baby is born.”

Like many women looking for a serene birthing experience, the royal could also pick her favourite candle and have it lit while in the throes of labour. Something like Votivo’s lavender, chamomile and pear is perfect for creating a calm ambience.

While there will be a lot of fuss about the baby, Kate should also make sure she looks after her body after delivery and as she begins to nurse. Multi-Mum Compresses made of a gel base will help soothe raw nipples, while luscious body creams will ease any dryness caused by the air-conditioned room — look for a product that can be used on both you and your baby like the Mum’s Secret Soothe & Repair Moisturising Cream.

For the royal baby

In the room or for that all-important hospital depature, the little royal baby will no doubt be snuggled under a luxurious blanket. Pick one up for yourself like the sweet cotton muslin blankets from Aden + Anais.

Although there’s no doubt the little prince or princess will be lavished with attention, Kate and Wills might like to pamper the little one with soothing massages as it gets used to being out of the womb. Baby massage has been proven to help with sleep and can be made even more delicious with a massage oil like Milk’s Sleepy Bubs oil.

In the first few days, simple and soft outfits are best for baby, especially for the royal baby who will be visited by many family members and then of course pause for his or her first photo gathering outside the hospital. David Jones stocks the classic Bebe by Minihaha white and pastel baby outfits.

This birth will be the most documented in modern media. Kate, however, might like to create a more personal journal or photo album about the arrival of her first child. This Mamas and Papas album lets parents create unique pages to document every step.

New mums are encouraged to bring creature comforts to the hospital, including feeding pillows (like this one from Baby Village). Kate might like to bring a personal cushion that will help her feed the newest little royal.
