A Tasmanian artist has given the Bratz dolls a make-under, and the results are fantastic.

The oversized flirtatious eyes, the drawn-on makeup and the plump, lipstick-caked glossy lips: Are these children’s dolls or sex toys? Finally, someone has had the good sense to prove just how ridiculous these over-styled children’s toys are by giving them a makeover and the result is fantastic.
Bratz backlash is nothing new. The company responsible for the dolls has received backlash since their release in 2001 for being over-sexualised and promoting negative body image among girls and children. But Tasmanian artist, Sonia Singh, has made the dolls more age-appropriate by giving them a make-under.

She explained on her page, Tree Change Dolls, her reason behind transforming and “rehabilitating” Bratz dolls, which she’s collected from op shops around Tasmania.
“These lil fashion dolls have opted for a ‘tree change’, swapping high-maintenance glitz ‘n’ glamour for down-to-earth style. I hand repaint the dolls faces, mold new shoes, and my Mum sews and knits their clothing [sic].
“My sisters and I grew up playing with second-hand dolls and home-made toys in the beautiful Tasmanian natural environment. I love the satisfaction of repairing and reusing discarded items to give them a new lease on life.”
The results are just beautiful, too.

These other girls’ toys need a make-under and STAT. Or their production should just be stopped altogether.
The Barbie doll
Barbie has been targeted for decades, with many claiming the unrealistic body proportions and makeup set a bad example and encourage poor body image among children. Artist Nickolay Lamm recreated the Barbie but gave her lifelike proportions using $95,000 raised through a Kickstarter campaign. The Lammily doll has the catchphrase, “Average is beautiful.”
Barbie: I Can Be A Computer Engineer book
Mattel recently pulled their book, I Can Be a Computer Engineer, off Amazon after people complained about the book’s text, which included: “‘I’m just creating the design ideas,’ Barbie says, laughing. ‘I’ll need Steven’s and Brian’s help to turn it into a real game.'” As a result, people began creating their own texts for the book.
Breastfeeding dolly
There is actually a doll out there with an attached pouch so kids can pretend they are breastfeeding their make-believe child.

Someone please explain human anatomy to the person who put this into production and how reproduction works. This is mortifying.
