7-year-old Alex was born in Florida with a partially developed right arm. Working with Limbitless Solutions, Robert Downey Jr. surprised the little boy with a brand new bionic arm. The theme? Iron Man, of course.
This isn’t Alex’s first time working with the Limbitless Team. Last year, they developed a 3-D-printed robotic arm that uses electromyography from Alex’s upper arm muscles to open and close fingers. Thanks to new technology and efforts by teams like Limbitless, it’s becoming possible to develop robotic limbs at prices families can afford.
Albert Manero is a volunteer who works with e-NABLE, a group that develops and donates 3-D printed limbs to children. Manero worked with Limbitless to create a new bionic arm for Alex. This time, he had very special support from “bionics expert” Robert Downey Jr. Perhaps you know him better as Tony Stark — Iron Man.
Watch as Downey Jr. delivers Alex his new biotic arm in the sweetest way possible. It’s incredibly touching to see a celebrity using his influence and his ability to capture kids’ imaginations to do such good.
Just try not to tear up as he not only makes this little boy’s day, but makes sure Alex knows just how awesome he is.
