Actress Milla Jovovich welcomed a daughter on April 1, and she joined a growing number of celebrity parents that give their daughters boy names. Get all the details on the baby name, and see the first photo of her beautiful daughter.

It’s an April Fools’ Day baby for Milla Jovovich and her husband, producer Paul W.S. Anderson. The 39-year-old Resident Evil actress shared the first photo and baby name of her daughter on Instagram.

“We are so proud to announce the birth of our second daughter Ms. Dashiel Edan Jovovich-Anderson today!!!” she captioned the photo, which shows her daughter sleeping peacefully. “She is 7lbs. 10 oz. and 20 inches long!”

Jovovich and Anderson also have a 7-year-old daughter with the unique name of Ever Gabo.

Even though Dashiel is their daughter’s full name, it appears the couple will be shortening it and calling her the cute nickname of Dash.

“We love you Dash!” Jovovich wrote on the photo, followed by several heart emojis.

Dashiel appears to be an alternate spelling of the name Dashiell, which is considered a boy’s name. Several celebrities have sons with this same name. Cate Blanchett has a son named Dashiell, as does Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman. X-Men director Bryan Singer just named his son Dashiell, while Nicole Sullivan gave her son the same name with the alternate spelling of Dashel. No other celebrities have named their daughter Dashiel, however boy names for girls is quickly emerging as the hottest new baby name trend. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds named their daughter James, while Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have a daughter named Wyatt.

Dashiel is a unique name choice, as the Social Security Administration does not have it listed in its top 1,000 baby names since 1900.

Her middle name, Edan, is also characterized as a boy’s name of Celtic origin that means “fire.”

Jovovich has not revealed the origins of her newborn daughter’s unusual name but wrote on her blog after the birth of daughter Ever back in 2007 that she wanted a Celtic name since Anderson has “Scottish blood in him.” That explains the Celtic middle name of Edan. Her daughter’s first name could be a combination of family names, as she did with her daughter Ever Gabo’s middle name.

“It’s a mixture of my parents’ names!” she said, explaining the meaning of Gabo. “The first two letters are after my mom’s first name, Galina, and the last two letters are after my dad’s first name, Bogie!”

The actress met Anderson, 50, when he directed her in the first Resident Evil movie in 2002. They put the plans for the last movie, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, on hold until after their daughter was born.
