Top baby name list of 2014 released: See the most popular names of the year

The Social Security Administration just released its anticipated list of the most popular baby names of the year, compiled from births of babies in the United States. The most popular boy name remains unchanged from last year, but we have a new girl name that has re-gained the top spot she lost several years ago. See the complete list here!

The Social Security Administration just finished compiling the top baby girl names and baby boy names of 2014 and we will see a lot of familiar names, as well as a few new ones. One thing is clear — we love classic names.

Which names are the most popular of the year? The most popular girl name is Emma and the most popular boy name is Noah.

Emma has not been the most popular baby girl name since 2008, however she reclaimed her title from Sophia, which has moved down to number three. Olivia has moved up to the number two spot. The only new name to the top 10 list is Charlotte, which also happens to be the new name of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s baby daughter, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. This list was compiled before the Duchess announced this name, however this name was obviously a favorite among parents here in the U.S.
