The 37-year-old already has a 2-year-old son named Mario Armando Lavandeira III, and now he has a daughter.
“The road to this birth has been a difficult journey, quite different from the first time, and my son and I are overjoyed at this happy and healthy addition to our family,” he continued on his website. “Every child is a blessing and this Mother’s Day was extra blessed for me and my mother!”
He went on to explain his difficult journey in another post, writing that there were several unsuccessful attempts by his surrogate to get pregnant. He has not shared who the surrogate is because he would like to keep that private.
“On Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at 1:47 PM, I was blessed with the birth of my daughter – Mia Alma. She weighed in at 6 lbs 9 oz and measured 19 inches. She looks just like her brother and, thus far, is doing everything a newborn should: eating, sleeping and pooping aplenty and with ease,” he writes. “This journey, however, was not so easy. I have been trying to get pregnant again for over a year. With my son, the miracle of life happened after the very first try. With Mia, unfortunately, there was a lot of heartache along the way. I naively expected things to be just as easy the second time around. I was painfully wrong! After three failed pregnancy attempts and a lot of sadness, I was beginning to lose hope. Then, after a fourth try, the positive pregnancy result!”
Hilton, who recently posted the picture below, spending “1 on 1 time” with his son Mario, explained why he picked the name Mia Alma.

He told The Associated Press that Mia means “my soul” in Spanish, and he picked it “because I’m cheesy like that.” The middle name of Alma is also of Spanish origin and means “spirit.”
