Awesome baby names inspired by Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation

Tom Cruise is back as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt in a fifth installment of the blockbuster Mission: Impossible series. The film, scheduled to be released in Imax theaters on July 31, offers unique inspiration for your next baby name.

Of course the ultimate tribute is to use the hero’s (or his actor’s) name. Consider Ethan or Tom, or have fun with surnames: Hunter or Cruz. Keep in mind that the film was shot in Vienna, Austria — there’s a perfect name for a girl. Or take inspiration from…

Keep in mind that before Tom Cruise took it to the big screen, Mission: Impossible was a hit TV series (CBS, 1955 to 1973). Produced by Bruce Geller, the show starred Peter Graves as Jim Phelps. And the famous theme song, which still serves the series today, was composed by Lalo Schifrin. (Lalor is an Irish boy’s name, but its meaning is “leper.”

Mission: Impossible didn’t hit theaters until 1996. The first movie was directed by Brian De Palma and starred Jon Voight in Peter Graves’ famed role. U2 band members Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton created a Grammy-nominated electronic version of the original theme song. The film’s sequels include Mission: Impossible II (2000), Mission: Impossible III (2006), Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011) and this year’s Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation.
