Jeff Goldblum and his wife, Emilie Livingston, welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on July 4. The actor shared the first snapshot of his adorable son and revealed his cool baby name.
Born on the 4th of July! In a strange coincidence, Jeff Goldblum is starring in Independence Day: Resurgence — and he just welcomed a baby boy on Independence Day. The 62-year-old actor announced the news on his Facebook page.
The sweet family shot shows his wife holding their son as Goldblum places a protective hand over their bundle of joy. “We’re so excited to share the wonderful news of the birth of our son, Charlie Ocean Goldblum, born on the 4th of July. Independence Day,” Goldblum wrote.
We love how the couple picked a more classic first name paired with a unique middle name. Charlie is a name of English origin that means “man.” This cute and classic name has been increasing in popularity the last 15 years. The Social Security Administration, which keeps track of the popularity of names of babies born here in the United States, ranks the name at 225 on its top baby name lists. However, it was all the way down at 449 in the year 2000. Noah is currently the most popular boy name.
Ocean as a middle name is a unique choice, however it has a great sound to it. It is interesting to note that Goldblum told David Letterman in an interview in January that they actually had a slightly different name picked out.
“It’s a boy,” he revealed. “We picked out a name, as a matter of fact. If it stays — this is our current thinking — [it’ll be] Elliott Charlie.”
It looks like they decided to keep Charlie as a first name and go with a more unusual middle name. Great choice!
Goldblum also shared that 32-year-old Livingston, who is a contortionist and aerialist, surprised him and told him she was pregnant “the day before we got married.”
