Bear Grylls is known for his daredevil ways and survivalist instincts but did he take things too far with his new mission? Parents will certainly think so.

The adventurer recently went on a Royal National Lifeboat Institution training mission with his crew and 11-year-old son, Jesse, but what happened next has landed Grylls in hot water. As part of the exercise (how to rescue a distressed child) he left his son stranded on a cluster of rocks, known as the Half Tide Rocks, located off the resort of Abersoch, North Wales.
The world would probably never have known about the exercise had Grylls not taken to Twitter to share a picture of his son, which has since been deleted, but read: “Jesse and the @rnli on a training exercise to rescue him off the rocks!”

Many parents will no doubt be outraged that Grylls could have put his son in a potentially dangerous situation. But parents would not be the only ones taking issue with Gryll’s actions, as the manager of the lifeboat station, Gareth Hughes-Jones, revealed that there was definitely an “element of risk” involved.
“The crew tell me they didn’t know Bear’s son was going to be on the rocks, as there is an element of risk,” Hughes-Jones said, according to the Daily Mail. “I certainly wouldn’t put my young son there — also it could encourage people to do the same, which would be unfortunate.”

“As I understand, it was supposed to be a low-key exercise. I believe no photographs were supposed to be taken. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but in his efforts to give the RNLI some publicity this is the wrong kind. (sic)”
