In the wake of the Paris attacks, Angel Le’s heart-to-heart talk with his young son Brandon is nothing short of comforting.

Father and son were paying their respects at the memorial site outside the Bataclan Theatre when a Le Petit Journal reporter asked Brandon if he understood what was going on and whether he knew why the attacks happened.

Brandon answered confidently, stating that there were “bad guys” with guns who were shooting people. He said that these guys were mean and that they would have to “change houses” to stay safe. His father then speaks up to offer some comfort, saying that France is home and adding, “They might have guns, but we have flowers.”

The segment was translated by Jerome Isaac Rousseau, who added English subtitles to the video “to show the rest of the world how freakin [sic] awesome some of our citizens are.”

Rousseau also went on to create a graphic out of Le’s words, sharing it with a post about defeating the “atmosphere of fear, hate, and violence that the people behind these atrocious acts sought to create.”
