Hot holiday toy creates nightmares for parents like you’ve never seen

If you’re checking your list, you had better think twice if your kids are asking for Bunchems. The popular toy, which consists of fun-colored balls that you stack and build with, can cause some major problems when they get stuck in hair.

We’re not talking minor tangles either. Some of the pictures and stories people are posting on social media are downright frightening. There are reports of parents spending hours trying to remove them from kids’ hair, some resorting to cutting them out. Others say they’re a choking hazard.

It’s not the first time a toy has come under attack for toddler hair tangles. Zhu Zhu Pets have been culprits for years, getting their little wheels stuck in kids’ hair, and we’ve heard reports of everything from forks to Barbies tangling themselves around the locks of little ones. Really, give a kid pretty much anything, and they can find a way to tangle it in their hair. Still, Bunchems seems to be particularly problematic.

One review on Amazon.ca has gone viral for its passion against these toys. User Ethan Benoit wrote, “Buy this toy for someone if you hate them or their child.” He continued, “They bring pain and misery, tears, fighting, broken and ripped hair, and questions of one’s sanity in handling life in general.”
