It’s interesting to note how baby name trends differ between the U.K. and the U.S. For example, you’ll note that there are many names that aren’t used often in the U.S. anymore, but all are in the top 100 popular British baby names. Of note, the last time the name Freddie made an appearance in the top 1,000 in the U.S. was in 2003, and even then, it barely made the cut. But in the U.K., it was the 20th most popular name given to boys born in England and Wales in 2014.
And Alfie, which is a consistently popular name in England and Wales, has only popped up on the popularity chart in the U.S. twice — in 1967 and 1968, despite the overwhelming audience of a show where an Alfie prominently stars (the HBO series Game of Thrones).
