I hate how badly allergy season affects my kids

Allergy season is no joke, especially if you have kids. Kids bring a whole new level of “Eww, gross” to allergy season. I don’t care how many times you tell them to sneeze in their arms, or to use a tissue for that nose that won’t stop running or when their eyes water, kids still manage to make allergy season that much more frustrating by being, well, kids! Despite that, my main concern for my child who suffers from seasonal allergies is the limitations it can put on her ability to play. If my daughter is sneezing and rubbing her eyes from her allergies, she is not playing and being as carefree as I want my children to be.

We live on an acre of land out in the country surrounded by trees, a cow pasture and lots and lots of animals. Stray cats, neighbors’ dogs, our own dogs and not to mention the allergens in the air. The allergies really can take a toll come the start of fall, when leaves are turning. But with the cooler weather comes the desire to be outside even more. To play and to run and to enjoy childhood for as long as possible. Who wants to watch their children avoid being outside because their allergies prompt a runny nose or watery eyes?

As an adult who also has seasonal allergies, I know the frustration it creates in everyday life. Turns out, this is a predicament an estimated one in five Americans face each year with outdoor and indoor allergies. (source)

My kids are at their best when they are cartwheeling in the yard, shooting baskets into the goal, kicking the ball around with the dogs or riding bikes with friends. They have such limited times to be carefree kids with the schedule of school and other activities. So making that play time greater by eliminating any distractions is an important effort for me as a mom. I am so glad that there are proven, responsible products out there that are easy to use and do what they say to help me help my kids play greater!
