Kelly Clarkson just picked an adorably preppy baby name

Kelly Clarkson and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, welcomed their second child, a baby boy, April 12. The singer made the baby announcement on Twitter and shared his adorably preppy baby name.

Aww! Remington Alexander Blackstock.

She did hint during an interview with Valentine in the Morning last month that their chosen baby name started with the letter R, just like their daughter, River Rose. It sounds like she has found a baby-name theme she likes.

Remington is a name of English origin that means “from the raven farm.” This preppy name reminds us of the 1980s sitcom Remington Steele, starring Pierce Brosnan. Even though Remington is a mouthful, it could be shortened to the cute nickname Remy.

The Social Security Administration keeps track of baby name trends in the United States, and it shows that Remington jumped to No. 685 last year, whereas it was previously not ranked in the top 1,000. It is still considered a unique baby name, however. Noah is currently the most popular boy name in America.

Alexander is a name that has both Swedish and American origins and means “defender of man.” This name is a more popular choice, ranked at No. 8 on the Social Security Administration’s popular baby name list.

Clarkson announced her pregnancy last August while she was performing at the Staples Center and started crying while singing, prompting her to announce to the audience that her emotional outburst was due to her being “totally pregnant.” Since then, she has not slowed down and even performed on the last season of American Idol, the show that launched her career.

Remington will be welcomed home by his big sister, River Rose, who we think is probably one of the cutest celebrity babies ever. Clarkson has yet to post a picture of her newborn son; however, we are sure he will be just as adorable.

Clarkson has not had easy pregnancies. She suffered with severe morning sickness, which she calls “all-day sickness,” resulting in her getting IVs due to dehydration from vomiting. Despite that not-so-fun side effect of pregnancy, Clarkson gushed she and Blackstock couldn’t be happier with their new bundle of joy.
