If you ask a mom for a picture of her kid, she will likely offer you at least 200 from any given month that child has been alive and throw in some bonus videos too. If you ask a mom for a picture of herself… well, she may have to do some digging.
Because moms are so often behind the lens instead of in front of it, our friends over at Babble decided to turn the tables a bit with their gorgeous Motherhood in Focus series.

The series is a tribute to single mothers in particular, and it features 23 families in New York. Photographer Ahna Tessler captured their lives in candid shots that give a glimpse into their lives. They capture the humor, bond and love that’s apparent in each of the families, with Mom at the center of it all.
Motherhood is never easy, but single moms (and dads!) really do deserve extra respect, so it’s great to see them honored like this. It also serves as a reminder to all moms how beautiful it is to capture memories on film with your children and a nudge to perhaps get in the pictures more often.
