Before the baby arrived (a home birth in California), fans knew the little one was on the way, as Christensen gave the world a huge heads-up on Twitter.

Shane, a variation of Sean, which itself is the Irish variation of John (meaning “God is gracious”), is typically a baby boy name, but some parents choose it for their daughter as a variation of Shannon, Shana or Shawn. In pop culture, Shane was the name of a character in the American Showtime TV drama series The L Word, played by Katherine Moennig. Another celebrity offspring with the name is Eddie Murphy’s 21-year-old daughter, although her name is spelled Shayne.

Christensen, who married Maness in September 2015, described being pregnant as “rather surreal,” revealing that her daughter was a “little kick boxer […] big and moving and communicating as far as reacting to music that we play and stuff like that.”

The 33-year-old actress shared some gorgeous baby bump pics throughout her entire pregnancy — she definitely was one of those moms-to-be who just glow more and more as the months go on.
