Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici Lowe are parents! Our Bachelor faves have welcomed a baby boy and couldn’t wait to share the news.
More: Looks like Keri Russell is done hiding her baby’s name from the world
Lowe took to Twitter to say, “God is good! We had a healthy baby boy named Samuel Thomas. Thank you everyone for your prayers and support!”
And the new mom shared her joy on her own Twitter account.
Could a baby boy name be any cuter than Samuel Thomas? It’s the sort of name that’s completely timeless and steeped in tradition but never seems out of date. An Old Testament name meaning “told by God,” Samuel is always popular: Around 11,000 boys are named Samuel every year. In 2015, it was the 23rd most popular U.S. baby boy name.
Samuel was an Old Testament judge and prophet of the Israelites, with a holy life mapped out from birth. He established the Hebrew monarchy, anointing both Saul and David as kings. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the couple chose a biblical name for their son. Sean made it clear during his Bachelor stint that religion was hugely important to him, and Catherine was baptized before their wedding.
Other celeb parents who’ve chosen Samuel include Jack Black, Ben and Jennifer Affleck and Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber. Keri Russell finally revealed this week that her month-old baby son (with Matthew Rhys) is called Sam. Another perk of the name Samuel is, of course, that its diminutive can be used and is just as lovely a name as its long form.

The Season 17 Bachelor couple, who married in January 2014, announced their pregnancy on Instagram in December, enjoyed a California babymoon in April and threw a flamingo-themed baby shower in May.
Fans of The Bachelor loved Sean and Catherine for their sweet, friendly, open natures on the show, and it looks like they’re approaching parenthood with the same attitudes that endeared them to the public so much. Shortly before announcing her pregnancy, Catherine revealed why she knew Sean would be such a great dad.
“We love being married and what’s really sweet is knowing — he has these dogs, two dogs, both 9 years old — seeing him with them makes me so excited for him to be a dad,” she said. “He treats them so well and he’s very patient, so we’re looking forward to [being parents].”
