Come on, Farrah Abraham’s not signing her kid up to do porn anytime soon

Farrah Abraham is no stranger to the world of porn (she’s the star of Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom and its sequel Farrah 2: Backdoor and More), and now she’s revealed exactly how she feels about her daughter following in her footsteps.

Sophia is only 7 years old, but Abraham has clearly given some thought to the young girl’s future career, and she would support her no matter what industry she chose to work in.

When asked about it on the Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss podcast, Abraham said it would be Sophia’s “own choice” if she ventured into the porn industry. Her comment is bound to cause controversy (because this particular reality TV mom can cause controversy simply by breathing), but it’s important to consider it in context. Abraham pointed out that young women might go into porn because they have no money or maternal support or if they are particularly vulnerable.

However, she also said that Sophia’s future would be very different and that she was setting her “daughter up for something else better than that.”

“She’ll do good,” Abraham asserted.

The Teen Mom OG star was also pretty sensible when she spoke about whether Sophia may be aware of her mom’s porn past, saying that she has “no reason to hide anything” and that she would discuss her past with Sophia when it was age-appropriate.

Abraham’s comments about her daughter doing porn are likely to cause a backlash, and while none of us would choose the sex industry as a career for any of our children, her attitude is actually pretty healthy. When our kids become adults, they are completely responsible for the choices they make — including what career path they take. As parents, all we can do is try to steer them in the right direction and support their endeavors.

With her mom’s financial and emotional support, hopefully, Sophia will go on to be successful in her own right. And if she does make some bad decisions, the honest relationship her mom has tried to foster between the two of them may be what helps her turn things around.
