The Empire star posted an adorable picture on Twitter Friday, showing the new arrival — a son, Hero — getting a kiss from his big brother, 15-month-old Qirin. He is also little brother to Howard’s daughters Heaven and Aubrey and son Hunter from a previous marriage.
In Greek mythology, Hero was a woman, the virgin priestess of Aphrodite, who was seen at a festival by Leander of Abydos. They fell in love, and Leander swam the dangerous waters of the Hellespont at night to visit her, guided by the light from her tower. It’s also the name of Claudio’s love interest in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, and remains more popular as a girl’s name than a boy’s.

But given the definition of the word “hero” — a person admired for their courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities — it’s perfect as a baby boy name too. Hero Howard has quite the ring to it, no?
We don’t know if Hero has a middle name yet. None of Howard’s first three children do, but his fourth bucked the trend and is called Qirin Love Howard. Which is possibly one of the most perfect baby names we’ve ever heard, but if little Hero is given a middle name too, it could be a close call.
