Teen Mom’s toddler is fat-shamed in new social media low

For the perfect example of the worst kind of mom-shaming online, you don’t need to look further than Teen MomJenelle Evans. This time, the trolls have reached a new low — they’re not just criticizing Evans’ parenting skills, but throwing hateful insults at her youngest child.

The former 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom 2 star posted a picture of her two kids on Instagram this week. Joining Jace, 6, and Kaiser, 2, in the pic is Evans’ partner David Eason’s daughter Maryssa, 8. All three kids look super happy to be having a day in the woods — their beaming faces say it all.

But sadly, there are always going to be people who look beyond the smiles… who look for something that simply isn’t there. Believe it or not, some of the commenters on Evans’ Instagram post have concerns about Kaiser’s weight.

“That kid is going to be short and fat. Both his parents are short,” wrote one person, while another posted, “Seriously, Kaiser needs to be put on a diet.”

Take another look at the picture, people. Really — does it look as though Kaiser has a weight problem? Just because he’s not a skinny kid, does that mean he’s at risk of becoming obese? When will people accept that kids come in all shapes and sizes, and drawing attention to their weight is way more dangerous than a few extra pounds?

Evans has recently started deleting negative comments on her Instagram page, and we don’t blame her at all. None of us need that kind of negativity in our lives, and anyone who thinks it’s appropriate to fat-shame a 2-year-old (or a child of any age, for that matter) should feel so ashamed of themselves.
