New Bachelor baby name makes us want to hotfoot it to Europe

Congratulations to The Bachelor alum Erica Rose, who’s now a mom.

Rose, who appeared on the ninth season of the dating show (competing for Prince Lorenzo Borghese’s heart), gave birth to a baby girl, Holland Rose Madeleine Gentry, on Sept. 19.

Holland means “wooded land,” but is best known as the informal name used to refer to the entire country of the Netherlands. (It’s actually a region on the western coast of the country.) It first entered the U.S. top 1,000 baby name chart in 2014, reaching No. 845 in 2015.

The most famous bearer of the name is Emmy award-winning actress Holland Taylor, who is best known for her work on Two and a Half Men and was the star of The Ann Richards Play, the recent one-woman play on Broadway.

Place names provide no shortage of inspiration for parents looking for something a little different for their new arrival. Other celebrity kids with place names include Victoria and David Beckham’s son Brooklyn, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s son Kingston, Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin’s daughter Ireland, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s son Morocco, and Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz’ son Egypt.

However, Rose recently explained that she had another reason for choosing the name. Before she welcomed her daughter, she revealed the name and explained that it was chosen as a tribute to her late aunt, Holly, who passed away of stage 4 cancer following a courageous 15-year battle.
