Gibson Kyle Johnson was born Sept. 16 in North Carolina to Maynard Johnson and her husband, Tyler Johnson. He joins big brother Jennings Tyler, 14 months old, and big sister Ricki, Maynard Johnson’s 11-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Gibson means “son of Gilbert” and is an important name in Maynard Johnson’s family. It’s her own middle name, her mother’s maiden name and also the name of a town in the couple’s home state of North Carolina.
It’s much more common as a surname, of course, but there’s definitely a growing trend for last names as first names. Other celebrity offspring who’ve been given surnames as firsts include David and Victoria Beckham’s son Cruz, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s daughter Monroe, Jackson Rathbone’s daughter Presley, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden’s daughter Harlow and Kate Hudson’s son Ryder.

Maynard Johnson announced her happy news on Instagram with a cute family photo, writing, “Ricki and I are officially outnumbered!”
She later added a picture of the proud dad and big brother with the new arrival.
When she announced her third pregnancy in March, the reality TV star described herself as “a glutton for punishment” for conceiving again so soon after having Jennings. “I guess I should’ve read that part in the baby handbook that says you’re super fertile after giving birth, huh?” she blogged.

After accepting a proposal from Brad Womack on The Bachelor, the engagement soon ended, and Maynard Johnson went on to star as The Bachelorette, where she became engaged to Jef Holm. They split in October 2012 after six months, and Maynard Johnson went on to date Johnson, who she actually knew from way before she became a reality TV favorite. The couple married in June 2014.
