Gossip Girl star gives new baby a comic book name with a Celtic vibe

You might remember him as charming billionaire Colin Forrester in Gossip Girl, but actor Sam Page is taking on the biggest role of his life — fatherhood. He and his wife, Cassidy Boesch, recently welcomed their first child.

Page, 39, confirmed the news on Instagram Tuesday with an adorable snap of his newborn son, Logan, snuggling up to the family dog. The actor, who has also starred on Mad Men, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and House of Cards, likes to keep his personal life private and doesn’t post much to social media, but clearly this is one occasion he’s happy to share with the world.

Logan is a Scottish baby name meaning “small hollow.” After steadily slipping down the U.S. baby name chart from 1895, its fortune took an upturn in the 1970s, and it’s been climbing ever since, proving to be a very popular choice for boys and ranking at No. 14 in 2015. Unsurprisingly Logan is even more popular in its native Scotland, currently placed at No. 7, and also ranks in the top 25 in England.

Pop culture Logans may have something to do with its current popularity. X-Men‘s mutant character Wolverine, known as Logan and played by Hugh Jackman in the movie adaptation, is the most famous fictional bearer of the name. There were also characters called Logan on Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars.

Page and Boesch married in November 2014 in a villa just outside Santa Barbara, California. He posted a photo of their wedding day on Instagram with the caption, “Making it official.”

Congratulations to the family of three!
