We will not mince words, Kim Kardashian West-shamers: You really need some new hobbies.
Yes, the latest Kardashian kerfuffle involves Kardashian West and Kanye West’s daughter, North West, who was photographed wearing a pretty normal little-girl uniform, in our book: a baggy, saggy, somewhat princess-y frock with a lace-up middle that could be mistaken for a corset 1) if your vision is poor 2) if you’re really, really working hard to come up with new reasons to slam the Kardashian-West posse.

It’s Corsetgate, with the internet going all flames-shooting-from-eyes angry on Kardashian, who is probably regularly too tired to argue with her daughter about the outfits she wants to wear.
Honestly, our question to all those bursting their spleens over North West sporting a vaguely corset-like piece of fabric over an orange dress: Have you never met an actual child and witnessed a week’s worth of their completely bizarro clothing choices?
Kids wear weird things, like superhero pajamas as daywear and toilet paper feather boas as party accessories. And when their parents are fashionista-designer celebrities, chances are good they’re going to wear some extra weird things. And that’s actually OK. North West was not wearing a sequined thong and pasties and carrying a leather whip, y’all. Let’s just reshuffle the shaming deck, m’kay?

On Wednesday, Kardashian West actually took to Twitter with a video to try to appease the yelping, finger-jabbing hordes, saying, “I would never put my daughter in a corset! It’s a dress I bought that is a cotton fabric that laces up & looks like a corset! Just decoration.”

“This dress, that I did not design, I actually bought,” said Kardashian West, “is not a corset it’s just fabric on the front. So, I think it’s really cute, I bought it from a designer and it’s just fabric people, it’s not a real corset.’

So, hear ye, hear ye: Anyone who knows an actual little girl knows that there is no pleading with her to wear a dress she hates. Repeat usage means North West is all about the faux corset dress, and if you find a droopy faux corseted princess dress on a 5-year-old “too provocative,” you hella icky, friend. This is not the hill you want to die on, trust us.
