Actor Olivia Wilde couldn’t help but get nostalgic on her daughter Daisy’s first birthday this week — in humorous style. Wilde posted a funny thank-you note to her doctors and nurses at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. The image featured herself smiling and flashing her middle finger from her hospital bed one year ago just after the epidural kicked in.

She captioned the post, “Daisy’s birth was a little bit complicated and I’m deeply grateful for Sharlene Pope, Dr Caitlin Fiss, Nurse Helen O’Keeffe, and the whole life-saving team at Mount Sinai hospital in Manhattan. Together we pushed out a gorgeous almost 10 lb baby lady.”

Wilde and SNL alum Jason Sudeikis are parents to both Daisy and son Otis, who was born in 2014.
Wilde also posted a more serious birthday message to Daisy along with a photo of the little girl peering out a window. We admit it. We got more than a little misty-eyed reading the tribute.

Wilde wrote, “My curious, courageous one, I promise we’ll work hard to make this place better for you and your sisters everywhere. We’ve taken some hits recently, but I believe we are even more determined because of it. We dream of a time when you won’t have to apologize for your brilliance, or sacrifice your self-respect to prove your worthiness. This world is yours, kiddo. We’re just the cleanup crew. I love you. Happy birthday. #internationaldayofthegirl.”

Wilde’s been loving up her kids on Instagram recently, also posting a very sweet black and white shot of herself giving a kiss to her son — on the lips. Mommy-shamers were out in full force with that one, decrying the sweet smooch. Really, people?

But most followers came to her defense immediately. One wrote, “You know what I just read? about eight hundred different people who are of the same opinion as me: great photo and beautiful. Then one or two lunatics who obviously did NOT get enough love from their own parents growing up, so somehow think this is weird and sick.”
Another wrote, “I can’t love this enough.”
Neither can we. Wilde is clearly a fantastic, thoughtful mama — what’s not to love?
