Tom Brady Cuts Interview Short After Host Insults His Daughter

Tom Brady couldn’t care less whether you like him — or the Patriots — but you’d better think twice before tearing into his kids. The five-time Super Bowl winner and Pats’ star quarterback shut down his weekly interview on the Kirk & Callahan radio show on WEEI on Monday. The reason? Brady — and the rest of the world — was disgusted to hear host Alex Reimer on another talk show Thursday night referring to Brady’s daughter (with supermodel Gisele Bündchen) as an “annoying little pissant.”

Seriously, Reimer, what were you thinking? Dude.

Reimer was discussing Brady’s new Tom vs. Time documentary. His comment about Brady and Bündchen’s daughter Vivian, age 5, immediately caught a hailstorm of flak — and rightly so. Why go after a kid?

On Monday, , “You know, I tried to come on this show for many years and showed you guys a lot of respect. I’ve always tried to come on and do a good job for you guys. It’s very disappointing when you hear [the comments about Vivian], certainly. My daughter, or any child, certainly does not deserve that.”

Both WEEI hosts expressed their apologies to Brady, encouraging him to say whatever he liked in response to Reimer’s comments.

“There’s certain things that you understand as an athlete — you’re going to be criticized for what for what you do, on and off the field, as an individual — but for a kid to be criticized is unbelievably stupid,” cohost Kirk Minihane said to Brady. “There’s no defense for it.”

Brady was not in the mood to play nice. He said on air that he would have to reconsider his weekly radio gig with WEEI. “I’ll obviously evaluate whether or not I want to come on this show again. I really don’t have much to say this morning. Maybe I’ll speak with you guys some other time,” he said, abruptly ending the interview.

Reimer has been suspended indefinitely. However, Brady said he doesn’t want Reimer to be fired for his comments. Brady said during an interview this week at the Xcel Center, “I certainly hope the guy is not fired… I just know everybody is real protective of their kids. I never stayed away from criticism. I understand that criticism is part of sports. But I certainly don’t think that my children or anybody else’s children deserve to be in that.”

We couldn’t agree more.
