William & Kate Are Totally Ready for Baby No. 3’s Arrival

The arrival of the newest prince or princess is imminent, and bookies are betting on a baby girl named Alice for those of us keeping track at home. I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready to see adorable pics of Prince George and Princess Charlotte with their new brother or sister, who’s expected to arrive on April 23. Meanwhile, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, more commonly known as Kate Middleton, have gone total type A and meticulously planned every detail of the birth, complete with thorough backup plans for every possible scenario.

For security reasons, Kate’s maternity suite at St. Mary’s Hospital (located just 1-1/2 miles from Kensington Palace) has been on lockdown for the past two weeks. “Security does regular sweeps of the room, then it’s resealed each time with tamper-proof tape,” a source told Us Weekly. “It’s a high-security operation. Even the crawl space above the room is checked regularly.”

The source also told the outlet that a “baby team” of people close to William and Kate are waiting with bated breath to get the call that she’s in labor. “[The team] is dedicated to making sure everything is ready, from media plans to security to hospital arrangements,” the source said. “There’s a backup plan for everything.”

The couple understandably wants to avoid tipping off the press, so the hospital will only get five minutes’ notice before William and Kate depart Kensington Palace. But thanks to all the meticulous planning, they’re totally ready and prepared to deliver the next prince or princess on very short notice.

And it seems St. Mary’s is prepping for the royal birth in even the subtlest of ways. For example, as reported byPeople, the railings outside Kate’s wing have just received a fresh coat of paint to prepare for the moment the royal couple makes their first public appearance with the new baby. We get it, St. Mary’s; you’ve got to make that paparazzi shot shine.

The location itself is meaningful too. The royal couple introduced George and Charlotte to the world outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s, and it’s also where William and Prince Harry were debuted in the arms of Princess Diana.

So will Kate and William be welcoming an Alice into their royal wonderland? It sounds like we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out.
