Kristen Bell Used Quite the Tactic to Stop a Paparazzo From Snapping Her Kids

We really didn’t need another reason to love Kristen Bell, but she went ahead and gave us one anyway. When the actor was picking up her daughters, 5-year-old Lincoln and 3-year-old Delta, from preschool, she spotted a paparazzo snapping pictures of the girls.

Bell, who previously lead a campaign to protect celebrities’ children from the paparazzi, was extremely concerned about the dangers of, you know, the entire world finding out exactly where her girls attend school, so she decided to confront the photographer — but rather than yelling, she used the tactic of “kill ’em with kindness.”

“I said, ‘Kristen, you can handle this,'” Bell told Today‘s Natalie Morales at the Mom 2.0 Summit. And handle it she did. Bell drove across the street to block the photographer’s car, and she then knocked on his window — for a civil conversation?!

“‘Hi, my name’s Kristen,'” Bell recounted telling the photographer. “‘Do you realize how much you are putting my kids at risk? I have confidence your mom raised you better.'” She then politely asked him to delete the pictures, and he obliged.

Because she’s, you know, a human being, Bell said she was tempted to shout at the photographer for putting her kids at risk. But she told Morales and co. that her tactic was effective because she did just the opposite; she kept calm. “If I had gone up to that car and yelled at him, I guarantee you he would not have deleted those pictures,” Bell said.

And there you have it, folks: You kill more flies with honey than with sticks, right? Or something like that? Whatever it is, we’ll call it the Bell Lesson.
