Zoe Saldana Has a Special Message for ‘Moms Out There Making the Ultimate Sacrifice for Their Dreams’

Zoe Saldana is being open and honest about what it’s like to be a working mom; and she’s being her most vulnerable yet.

So, back on Oct 15, Saldana shared a darling throwback photo of her and her twin sons. She shared the photo with the caption reading, “Being on the road is hard when you’re away from your children. To all the moms out there making the ultimate sacrifice for their dreams. Those dreams are their’s too! Trust the process… #momlife.”

In the throwback photo, we see Saldana donned as her iconic Guardians of the Galaxy character, Gamora, in her trailer, playing with her twin sons when they were just babies! Under this heartfelt post, many other celeb moms commented under it, with actress Jurnee Smollet saying, “THE WORKING MOM STRUGGLE IS ALL TOO REAL!! It’s hard sometimes but in the end, it will be worth it. I see you Queen ❤️💪🏽👊🏽🫶🏽” and singer Aja Volkman adding, “Really needed to hear this today. About to leave for 20 days.”

Saldana continued this sentiment during an interview with Variety on Oct. 21, saying how she wants to reach her goal of directing but won’t do it until her kids are grown so she won’t spend so much time away from them.

“When you direct — especially the kind of director that I am, and that I’ve witnessed all the directors that I’ve admired be — you live with a movie for years,” she said. “I just want to make sure that my kids are old enough where they don’t even notice that I’m gone.”

For those who don’t know, Saldaña and her husband Marco Perego share three sons together: twins Cy and Bowie, 9, and Zen, 7.

In an interview with SheKnows for the 2023 Holiday Issue, Saldaña talked about the quality time she spends with her and Perego’s children; and how dancing isn’t the only hobby the boys love doing together.

“When it comes to rituals and interactions that we can do together, I will do it,” she said. “It gives us the opportunity to play these games with them … you know, interact, as opposed to just granting them this time and monitoring it. We’re right in the trenches with them playing the game, and it’s become a family event for us.”
