Blake Lively got ready for the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday night with a team of stylists — and a home full of wild kids. She opened up about how long it took to get ready for a night out with her four kids on the loose, and we’ve never felt more seen.
TheIt Ends With Us star shared before-and-after photos of her getting ready for the event on her Instagram story yesterday. “BEFORE (Note: still daylight)” she wrote over the first picture, tagging her stylist and revealing that she used some of her own Blake Brown Beauty products to create the look for the night.
In the second photo, Lively’s hair had transformed into luxurious golden locks styled perfectly for the big night. In her caption, she explained that it took much longer to get ready than usual because her kids James, 9, Inez, 8, Betty, 5, and Olin, 1, who she shares with husband Ryan Reynolds, needed her.
“AFTER (Note: now fully nighttime bc I have 1000 children and had to stop 12x to do everything from heat @interludenyc Pop Tarts, to check out some air dry clay creations,” she wrote. If you haven’t seen Interlude Café’s homemade pop tarts, then you are seriously missing out because oh my goodness these look good. I can just picture Lively having her makeup done and hair styled while one kid comes up to ask if they can have a pop tart. She says yes, then the younger kids come in crying because they want one too but are too little to heat it up themselves. Her eldest daughter is too busy crafting to help, and Reynolds? Well, why would kids ask their perfectly capable dad when mom is in the house?!
“Nothing better. Except eating them yourself and lying to your family that they were all sold out again,” the Gossip Girl alum jokingly added. “Thankfully @jennifer_yepez always has my back. And front. And sides.)” (Quick question, what is Kamala Harris’s plan to get all moms personal hair stylists and makeup artists because that would be amazing!)
Like all working moms, Lively is often doing double duty with her kids. In August, she brought her kids to a cover interview for Vogue, where she carried one child and pulled another by the hand as they went to a terrace restaurant near the top of the Spanish Steps in Rome. The kids were dancing and singing as they approached, and Lively happily shouted to the reporter, “sorry about all the kids!” It’s just part of life, you know? The writer later described it as “a scene of joy and silliness and utter chaos,” which Lively “seems to be delighting in.”
“Sitting around with them doing chicken dances while I have a very serious conversation with you is probably the most accurate portrait of me possible,” she told Vogue.
Our lives may not be as glamorous as Lively’s, but they are just as chaotic — and we love her so much more for it!
