Keri Russell has been one of our favorite it-girls since her days on Felicity and beyond. Today, she’s the star of The Diplomat, and is getting real about balancing work as an actress and as a mom of three.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Russell talked about how hard it is to balance it all, and how this show has been a saving grace for her to help balance it all.
“It feels bizarre, because we have some of our same internal sets, but here in New York,” she said. “I can ride my bike to work. I am enormously grateful, because I still have kids at home, and so does Deborah Cahn, who writes the show, and it’s just immensely important to be close to home and not leave your kids to be raised by wolves.”
Balancing it all is something every mom can relate to, and it’s nice that Russell is being so open about it all and that this show is wonderful for her in more ways than one.
And for those confused by the concept of her kids being “raised by wolves:” there’s an explanation. Raising kids as someone in the spotlight can be tough, and oftentimes, they can be found in bad groups or find themselves in unsettling stations. So Russell is highlighting how being able to work close to home ensures the balance and ensures her kids are doing just fine.
For those who don’t know, Russell has three children. She shares two children named River, born in 2007, and Willa, born in 2011, with her ex-husband Shane Deary. She also shares one son named Sam, born in 2016, with Matthew Rhys.
