Kaavia James’ Nighttime Routine With Dad Dwyane Wade Includes a Best-Selling Book That’s on Sale Ahead of Black Friday

There is no perfect nighttime routine — unless you’re Gabrielle Union’s daughter Kaavia James. Hers includes sweet snuggles, hot pink Barbie blankets, and a bedtime story with her dad Dwyane Wade! The 6-year-old seemed lost in thought as her dad read to her in a new video that will melt your heart.

“Plot twist: he’ll be asleep before the end 🙃” the cute post shared on Kaavia’s own Instagram account (run by her parents) was captioned. First are two photos which show Kaavia’s big girl room, complete with bright pink walls, pink-and-white Barbie sheets, a pink Barbie comforter, a pink Barbie robe, and some well-loved stuffed animals. Kaavia lies in bed in her purple pajamas with her braided hair sticking straight up. Her dad is snuggled in next to her in the hue bed, reading The Color Monster: A Story About Emotions by Anna Llenas with one of Kaavia’s toys on his chest.

At the end is a video of the former NBA star reading to his daughter from the award-winning book about exploring emotions. “Let’s try to make some sense of how you feel,” Wade reads from the book. Kaavia, in full Shady Baby mode, just stares contentedly ahead as her dad reads. “He don’t look happy, do he?” Wade asks Kaavia, who just continues looking o in the distance like she’s mad (or more likely about to fall asleep). Despite her lack of enthusiasm, Wade keeps reading to her — he knows she’s soaking it up on some level — and the moment is too sweet.

Fans thought so too. “The sandman is sneaking up on of them. He’s such a great dad,” one person said. Another wrote, “This is too sweet. Dads are awesome!”

“These are memories she will treasure forever 🥹,” another said.
