Prince Louis’ Latest Hobby Is Leaving His Family Less Than Thrilled

Prince Louis has the royal family shaking their heads once again, but not for the reason you probably think. It has nothing to do with his adorable and hilarious public antics. Instead, Prince William is less than thrilled about his youngest’s newest hobby.

During a recent appearance at the Tusk Awards, the Prince of Wales told Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood and Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler that the 6-year-old has *dramatic pause* reached for the drumsticks. (Dun dun dun!)

“My youngest is learning the drums,” Prince William said per Hello! And we have so many questions. Who’s teaching him? Is he drumming along to songs from his beloved OneRepublic? Can we expect to see him marching and beating a drum in a future Trooping the Colour instead of dancing to the band and making funny faces from the balcony of Buckingham Palace?

“That’s why I spend my entire life with my fingers in my ears,” Prince William joked. Or should we say, “joked?” Because any parent of a young kid who has taken to the drums knows just how painful the early stages can be. All that clattering and banging with no actual rhythm is enough to drive even the most patient parents up a wall. It’s exactly why Shawn Johnson and Andrew East hilariously gifted their friends’ young son a drum set after said “friends” gave their toddler a recorder (AKA a shrieking tube of terror).

We digress …

Fortunately for Prince William, Kate Middleton, and anyone else living at Adelaide Cottage, Prince Louis’ older siblings have much quieter hobbies. Princess Charlotte, 9 is known for her love of dance (much like her grandma Princess Diana!), and that can easily be done with earbuds in. As for Prince George, 11, the heir to the throne reportedly has a love of aviation.

At a Buckingham Palace garden party in May, Prince William told the chaplain of the U.K.’s Royal Air Force that Prince George is a “potential pilot in the making,” per Us Weekly. And when Prince George was just 3 years old, the Princess of Wales said he was “obsessed with planes and wanted to become an air cadet.” While becoming a pilot will definitely be a noisy endeavor down the line, the young royal’s love of flight shouldn’t have his dad sticking his fingers in his ears — at least not at the moment.
