The calendars may have only just changed, but the royal family is already embracing the most wonderful time of the year. Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson and her daughter Princess Eugenie shared a joint post on Instagram highlighting the magical time they had at a Christmas-themed carnival with Princess Eugenie’s two sons in tow.
“The start of the Christmas countdown was made even more magical this year by having some granny and mummy time at @windsorilluminated ✨🎄,” Princess Eugenie captioned the carousel.
In the sweet photos and videos, “Fergie” and the Princess of York walk with her two sons – August “Augie,” 3, and Ernest, “Ernie,” 1 — who she shares with husband Jack Brooksbank. The opening shot shows Eugenie walking hand-in-hand with Augie, who points excitedly at something he sees in the distance. Meanwhile, Fergie carries little Ernie on her hip.
Everyone is bundled up for their nighttime stroll, and both boys have the cutest colorful rainboots. In a later video, Augie stomps around in his yellow boots while Ernie tries to keep up with his green ones. Ahead of them is a stunning display with Christmas lights that spell out “Windsor” and two huge reindeer. Fergie and Augie then take a sweet stroll along a beautifully-lit hedge.
The notoriously down-to-earth royals ended the carousel with a selfie of the Duchess and the Princess.
“Gorgeous family pics ❤️,” one follower commented.
“Isn’t it nice to see both Sarah and Eugenie and grandchildren be able to be out and about like a normal family and not be smothered by photographers and paparazzi?” another added. “It’s just so lovely and the smiles on their faces so natural I’m so delighted for them to be able to do this as a family”

In February, Princess Eugenie’s birthday tribute for her eldest proved that motherhood and normalcy really are her priorities. In the opening shot, she and Augie — who is rocking his yellow boots! — are laughing as they sit on the ground (she’s literally down to earth).
“Forever a force of nature and forever giggling with you,” she captioned the sweet carousel.
