He may be a present and involved dad in most areas of his sons’ lives, but A$AP Rocky takes a step back when it comes to one major thing. He recently admitted that he doesn’t “have any contribution” about one parenting decision for RZA, 2, and Riot Rose, 15 months, who he shares with Rihanna, and honestly, it’s a little surprising!
The “Good for You” rapper revealed that he has nothing to do with his boys’ sense of style during an interview with PEOPLE at the Footwear News Achievement Awards 2024 in New York City on Wednesday night. “That’s their mother by herself,” Rocky said about styling the boys. “I don’t have any contribution to when my sons get dressed.”
Rihanna is obviously a fashion queen, but Rocky can hold his own when it comes to style, so we would never have guessed that he doesn’t contribute to the toddlers’ looks. But even though he doesn’t have a say, he does inspire some of their looks.
“Sometimes she dresses them like me with kilts and all of that, but that’s all their moms, man. She got good style and taste,” Rocky continued. He also shared what he wants his kids to learn about his fashion sense when they get older. “I hope they take away my originality and confidence,” the rapper said. “It’s in their blood and their genes, no pun intended.”
Later, he admitted becoming a dad has changed his style for the better. “If I could define my dad style, I would say it’s way more focused,” he said. “Prior to that, it was really just like absurd outfits, just mismatching everything for the sake of it. But now I think it’s a bit more quiet luxury.”
Back in April, the “Diamonds” singer shared her “biggest hack” for dressing her sons. “When I dress them, I always try to dress them like Rocky,” she told Entertainment Tonight.“Because I always envision dressing a girl, right? We all do as women, like, ‘Oh, I’m going to dress her in these cute little things,’ but then you get sons and you’re like, ‘What do I do?’ and I was like, ‘You know what, I have the biggest hack — their dad.’”
Even though they aren’t collaborating on their kids’ style, Rihanna and Rocky might be working on another project together soon. At the Footwear News Achievement Awards on Wednesday, Rocky hinted that he and Rihanna might be working on something soon.
“I think you should just wait around to see,” he coyly told E! News. “You know, we got something in the works.
Considering how Rocky told Complexlast year that their kids was their greatest collab —“I think we do a real great job at collaborating making children. I think that’s our best creation so far!” he told the outlet — we’re wondering if this is a hint that another baby is coming soon. Rihanna has said she wants to have a baby girl, so you never know!
One thing’s for sure: Rihanna and Rocky make a great team!
