As we gear up to watch Home Alone for the millionth time this holiday season, many of us have wondered the same thing: have Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song‘s son seen the movie? Of course, they have, and in fact, we knew this last year when Culkin revealed that. However, now we know that their son Dakota is repeating this hilarious habit after seeing Home Alone.
In a recent interview with EOnline, Culkin revealed that Dakota is still thinking he’s the one that starred in the Christmas classic, not his dad.
“He thinks he’s Kevin,” he said. “I’m like, ‘Do you remember going down the stairs on the sled?’ He’s like, ‘Mmhmm, yep. Sure do.’ I’m like, ‘Do you remember when he had yellow hair?’ And he’s like, ‘Uh-huh, yep.'”
He then added how he responds to this. “You’re a lying liar who lies,'” he joked to his toddler, adding, “That was me!'”
And you wanna know the hysterical thing? It was the same thing last year!
Culkin revealed to Entertainment Tonight in 2023 that Dakota thought he starred in the film, saying, “I already showed it to him last year, he thinks it’s so funny.”
“I convinced my oldest that he’s the kid in the movie,” Culkin revealed. “I said, ‘Remember you had yellow hair? Remember when you were getting the bad guys?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah!’ He is such a liar. I’m like, ‘You don’t remember any of that.'”
So, in 2024, it seems Dakota still thinks he starred in the film, and that’s honestly so adorable!
For those who don’t know, Song and Culkin started dating in 2017 and later got engaged in early 2022. They’ve welcomed two children: a son named Dakota, born in April 2021, and another son whose name they haven’t divulged, born in Dec 2022.
In the same recent interview with ENews, Culkin also revealed that he and Song “go all out at Christmas in our house” for their two sons. “Because right now, they’re at the magic age where they believe, and we want to nurture that belief,” he said.
