Seeing huge pictures of her famous family around Australia Zoo feels totally normal to 3-year-old Grace Irwin. It’s no different than any other toddler seeing snaps of their family members framed at home! But a statue of one of the family members? Even Grace doesn’t know how to comprehend that! Grace’s mom Bindi Irwin took the sweetest video of her daughter reacting to a larger-than-life statue of family matriarch Terri Irwin, and it’s completely adorable.
Grace looks adorable as always in a light blue dress with colorful leaves and a pretty parrot pattern in the video on Instagram. Her cute curly brown hair is protected by a blue bucket hat, and she wears blue Crocs as she walks around a statue holding a little Three Caballeros plush in one hand.
“What’s this statue called?” Bindi asks off-camera. “The Statue of Liberty!” she answers in her tiny toddler voice, full of confidence in her answer. Grace added, “It’s the Statue of Liberty!”
Bindi zooms out the camera, revealing that the statue is in fact of her grandma Terri holding a huge crocodile. I can see how she would get the two confused — except, TBH, Terri’s statue is way cooler!
“’It’s the Statue of Liberty.’ I’m moving up in the world! 😂” Terri captioned the cute video. Bindi commented, “I’m with Grace!! ❤️” No wonder she didn’t correct her daughter; she totally agrees with her!
“1000% with Grace on this! You are such an inspiration. ❤️❤️❤️” one person wrote. Someone else said, “Grace is so precious!🤍🥺”
In March, Bindi shared a heartfelt post to her family, who she calls the “Khaki Crew.” She shared sweet words for her husband Chandler Powell, their daughter Grace, her brother Robert Irwin, and her mom Terri, who raised Bindi and Robert as a single mom after her husband Steve Irwin died in 2006.
“Mum — The reason we are all here today, standing up for wildlife conservation and continuing Dad’s legacy, it’s because of you,” Bindi wrote. “I am in awe of your hard work, love and dedication. Watching you create enormous positive change for the planet through Australia Zoo, Wildlife Warriors, and The Crocodile Hunter Lodge – it is phenomenal.”
The Crikey! It’s the Irwins star has a newfound appreciation for Terri now that she’s a mom, too. “As a wife and mother now myself, I can only begin to imagine the heartache and the difficulty you faced after Dad passed away,” Bindi continued. “The fact that you keep his legacy going flawlessly AND have been there for me and Robert every moment — that is astounding.”
“You give 100% of yourself to everything you do,” Bindi added. “I can’t believe that I get to be your daughter. It is an honour.”
And Grace clearly has the same attitude about her amazing grandma, too, which just melts your heart.
