Chris Martin Says His Kids With Gwyneth Paltrow Are ‘Not Biologically Mine’

Chris Martin just made a bold new (and obviously totally false!) claim about his two kids with ex Gwyneth Paltrow, and it proves dad jokes never truly go out of style. The Coldplay frontman opened up about parenting his kids Apple, 20, and Moses, 18, in a new cover interview with Rolling Stone — and joked that his kids were “not biologically” his.

“I like [my kids] very much,” he told Rolling Stone, per PEOPLE. “Even though they’re not biologically mine. I’m breaking the story now.” This is especially funny if you’ve ever seen Apple and Moses, because oh my goodness, they look identical to their dad (especially Moses — he would win a Chris Martin Lookalike Contest in a heartbeat!).

In the interview, he shared how much he enjoys embarrassing his kids. “My favorite new thing to embarrass my son is, if we’re walking down the street and someone comes up to us and they say, ‘I’m sorry to disturb you while you’re with your son,’ I say, ‘That’s not my son. That’s my partner,’” he quipped. I can’t stop laughing imagining everyone’s faces when he says that, but as a daughter, that sounds mortifying!

“Yeah, I like them a lot,” Martin continued, adding, “I think they are mine, to be fair.” (Although, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they disown him after this!)

Earlier this month, Martin and Paltrow reunited to support their daughter’s debut at the Le Bal des Débutantes debutante ball in Paris. The Goop founder shared several photos of the big night, where Apple looked glamorous in a custom blue Valentino dress that took 750 hours to make, per Vogue. Martin wore a black Valentino suit for the occasion, and he looked so happy in a picture kissing his daughter’s cheek.

In an interview with PEOPLE last November, Paltrow gushed about co-parenting with Martin. “He has this sweet child-like spirit, and I love that he will be like, ‘Let’s go jump in the ocean,’ when it’s 58 degrees or, ‘Let’s go to this weird guitar store.’ He always wants to do these fun adventures with them and activities,” she told the outlet.

She added that the “Yellow” singer “has a real sweetness.”

“And so he brings that to the way that he parents them … He’s sort of gone a lot, he’s on the road a lot, but he brings — it’s almost like he comes and sprinkles fairy dust,” Paltrow said.
