Andy Cohen Just Can’t Catch a Break in Video Brainstorming New Year’s Resolutions With Kids Ben & Lucy

Andy Cohen has been having a rough go of it, folks. If you’ve followed the Bravo star’s car ride chronicles — where he chats with his kids Ben, 5 and Lucy, 2 — you know that the single dad just can’t win. No matter how hard he tries to have a smooth and wholesome chat, it always ends up spiraling against him. The Watch What Happens Live host just can’t catch a break.

Ahead of hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast with buddy Anderson Cooper, Cohen shared a video where he’s driving and says to his kids, “Tell me something fun you want to do next year.”

“Not going to camp,” Ben quickly said. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t almost do a spit-take at that answer. ICYMI: Ben is notorious for [supposedly] not being a fan of summer camp and apparently his infamous “calculations” say it would be best if he didn’t go in 2025.

“Not going to camp?” Cohen asks, rubbing his hand down his face in annoyance and distress. “This is months away.”

“You loved camp this year. You loved it!” Cohen insisted before turning to his daughter.

When he asked his toddler what she wanted to do, she gave a big “umm” before confidently saying, “running.”

Which is probably one of the more popular New Year’s resolutions. Sure, Lucy wants to run for fun and not for fitness reasons, but it’s still pretty funny that she picked such a spot-on resolution. “OK,” Cohen said, likely expecting something a little more exciting and elaborate.

“Those are good,” he continued. “My New Year’s resolution for something fun that I want to do with you next year is to build a lot of LEGOs with you guys and swim in the ocean with you guys.”

Ben quickly shot that second idea down, saying there are great white sharks in the ocean. Cohen insisted that wasn’t true, and that’s went things went south.

“Oh my god, you’re lying,” Ben said.

“No, I don’t lie to you,” Cohen said. “I would never do that, it’s not in my best interest.”

Lucy, having thought it over, then piped in. “I don’t want sharks,” she said in a nervous voice.

In his caption, the exasperated dad doubled down. “There are no sharks in the shallow little area of our ocean where they’d swim. So don’t call me a liar in the comments!”

Cohen ultimately said he just wanted to have fun (no ocean!) with Ben and Lucy, and asked if that’s a good idea.

“No,” Ben hilariously deadpanned.

“OK, well, we tried,” Cohen said to the camera.

Followers were cracking up in the comments. It will seemingly always be a “Well, we tried,” situation with this family.

“Ben’s influence 🤣,” Khloé Kardashian commented. “🤣🤣🤣🤣”

And on it went:

“🤭 Ben still dragging Andy.” “Lmfaooooooo! Ben trying to influence Lucy not to swim in the ocean has me cackling 😂😂” “We need Ben on a reunion couch 🤣”

We believe Cohen when he says there won’t be any sharks where his kids swim, but we flinched when he said it’s not in his best interest to lie to his kids. Last year, followers felt strongly otherwise. When Cohen posted a video asking a Magic 8 Ball (or, as Ben insisted it was called, a “meatball”) a question, and the “meatball” answered negatively, followers insisted it was “acceptable” to tell a little white lie as to what the Magic 8 Ball said.

“Parenting 101 – remember he can’t read, control the narrative 🤣🤣🤣🤣,” one person commented.

Another said, “If he can’t read – just lie! It’s the key to successful parenting!”

“I think meatball miscalculated 🙂,” another joked.

So just a little reminder for Cohen in 2025: Definitely don’t lie when it comes to serious and dangerous things like sharks, but feel free to “control the narrative” every once in a while.

As for what followers want in 2025, the answer is clear: More of the Cohen kiddos! “We want to see more car conversation videos with the kids in 2025. 😂. They are hilarious!”
