Long before Kaavia James made a name for herself as Shady Baby on the internet, her mom Gabrielle Union was throwing shade at the Toros cheerleaders in Bring It On. And it’s clear the Clovers apple didn’t fall far from the tree! Union’s 6-year-old daughter, who she shares with husband Dwyane Wade, just channeled one of her mom’s most iconic roles — and brought her Shady Baby energy with her.
Kaavia wore a red sweatsuit with a white cap and black sneakers for a cool dance performance on a football field at SoFi Stadium recently. The Riff Raff star shared videos and photos from the moment on Instagram on Monday, and we are cheering for Kaavia right along with her!
“Playing my fave position from the sideline… mommy 🥹💕,” Union captioned the post. The first slide is a video of Union, as she leans down on the sidelines with her phone up to film her daughter. “Yeah, Kaav!” she screams as Kaavia completes a move. Such a cutie!
Another video is a close-up of Kaavia, performing with black patches under her eyes like a football player. She swings her arms, moves her hips, and dances (mostly) in sync with the other girls on her dance crew. At one point, she gets on the ground to do a cool breakdance move, then stands up and dances with a white umbrella. When she points at the camera with a shady smirk on her face, we can’t stop laughing. She is so cute — and reminds us so much of her mama!
Union also included a few photos of Kaavia with her friends and family who came out to support her, a video of Kaavia dancing on the sidelines with the cheerleaders on the field, and a video of Kaavia with one of her dance friends.
“My baby,” Wade commented on the cute post. Others shared their love as well. “Just a ball of talent just like her Parents🥰,” one person wrote. Someone else said, “Bring it on in real life 😍💗🫶🏾.”
It seems like Kaavia is definitely interested in cheerleading. Last month, she shared a series of photos from her own Instagram account (run by her parents), posing with cheerleaders from Grambling State University. “Mommy, I think the Clovers got competition 🤭 thank you for having me @grambling1901 ♥️,” she captioned the cute post. In the photos, she smiles from ear-to-ear as the cheerleaders blow her kisses.
Not to mention, Kaavia even has her own mini version of her mom’s Clovers cheerleading ‘fit, complete with a mini crop top and pleated skirt, which she showed off by jumping on the trampoline in a video captioned, “Bring It On: Kaav’s Version (2024).”
