Dwyane Wade is wearing his Girl Dad status with pride. Literally. The NBA legend just celebrated his 43rd birthday, and his family is sending him so much love. Even his 6-year-old daughter Kaavia James — who Wade shares with his wife Gabrielle Union — posted a sweet birthday tribute on Instagram. In the adorable opening shot, Wade is wearing a robe that says “Kaav’s Dad.” It’s such a sweet personalized piece that shows just how proud he is to be her father. He also has the special robe on while opening up gifts from his little girl who the internet has affectionately dubbed “Shady Baby” (IYKYK).
“Usually you got my back, but today I got yours daddy 🫶🏾,” the caption said.
People were so touched to see Wade’s relationship with his youngest.
“This little girl adores her Daddy and he, her ♥️♥️♥️. Their relationship is so tender and precious and beautiful 🥹,” one follower wrote in the comment section. Another added, “Can feel the love in this family ❤️❤️.”
“P.S. I’ll send you my @target bill later for this gift 😘,” Kaavia’s caption continued.
That little addition is doubly hilarious because can you imagine getting a millionaire a gift from a budget-friendly nationwide retailer? And expecting them to reimburse you for said birthday gift?
We have no doubt Wade would happily pay for his own gifts and do whatever else it takes to put a smile on his kids’ faces. The Olympic gold medalist also shares son Zaire, 22, and daughter Zaya, 17, with ex-wife Siovaughn Funches, son Xavier, 11, with ex Aja Metoyer, and is the legal guardian of his 21-year-old nephew, Dahveon Morris. Even with all the men in the mix, Wade is one of Hollywood’s many happy girl dads.
In May, he stepped out with Union and their Shady Baby to watch a WNBA game and proudly wore a hat that said, “GIRL DAD.” Now all he needs to do is pair that with his robe to have the ultimate Girl Dad ‘fit.
