After a rocky start to their parenting journey nearly two years ago, Keke Palmer and ex Darius Jackson seem to be doing a little better. The One of Them Days star shared new pictures of her 23-month-old son Leodis “Leo” with his dad, and eagle-eyed fans pointed out one detail that points to a more relaxed co-parenting relationship.
Palmer, who split from Jackson and requested a domestic violence restraining order against him in Nov. 2023, has recently praised the way Jackson has changed in the subsequent months, including joining the military. And now, she even seems to be getting cozy with him. On baby Leo’s personal Instagram account (run by Palmer and Jackson), the Nope star shared a bunch of pictures of the father-son duo — and many people noticed some comfortable-looking feet in the pictures.
“Happy bday! And cute toes keke 😍,” one person wrote. Someone else said, “awwww so Happy to see you guys working it Out!! ☺️❤️❤️❤️”
In the photos, Leo sticks out his tongue, goes on walks, and hangs out with his dad. In photos of the duo watching TV together, a feminine pair of feet with painted green toes rest comfortably in Jackson’s lap, with his hands on top. It’s clear that they are more than just cordial together. These two are at least friends if she feels comfortable enough to hang out and put her feet on him — and for Leo’s sake, we love to see it.
“Happy Birthday to the best daddy ever!!! Thank you for everything you do for me, I’m blessed to have you a papa that loves me like you do, have the best day ever, miss you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️” the post was captioned.
Palmer commented, “Happiest Birthday Darius! Keep killing it out there 🙏🏾.”
In November, the Master of Me author told Gayle King on CBS Morningsthat even she was surprised by how much progress her co-parenting relationship with Jackson has had. “I gotta be honest, I would’ve never thought that I would be where I am now, and so I’m very grateful that this has now been the outcome and we’ve been able to coexist in this way and show up for our son, and just be in a different place. It’s a real blessing, that’s the best way that I can explain it” she said.
Palmer revealed that she had to learn how to create boundaries. “Everything became clear because this child needs me,” she continued. “So anything that’s taking from me, that I could have been OK with before, I’m not anymore. Because I need to be 100 percent for this child. And I think that that changed everything.”
Last week, Palmer talked about her relationship again with The Cut, sharing her thoughts on domestic violence. “There’s a sensationalization that happens with that word,” she said. “But there really are often no other words to describe such a toxic dynamic.”
But once she had Leo, she knew things had to change “before it had the chance of becoming something that I had to survive.”
“You can say, ‘I know you’re not like that,’ or ‘I know it’s not like this,’ or ‘I know you’re a good person deep down,’” she went on. “You can make so many excuses for behavior that could have stopped.”
Now she is in a good place, and the person who benefits the most is little Leo. He gets to see his parents interact in a healthier, safer way, and that’s worth all the pain it took to get to this point!
These celebrity exes are getting co-parenting right.
