Lucy Liu just gave some super-rare details about her son Rockwell, and how he nearly made her burst into tears with the sweetest comment.
In case you missed it, during a recent interview on Live with Kelly and Mark via People, Liu talked about how she took her nine-year-old son to his first-ever premiere, and the moment is now a core memory for her.
“He was excited, and it was the first live-action that he’s ever seen in general and seeing it that large his heart was beating,” she said. “He was sweating. He was doing the full experience. He dropped the popcorn.”
The Charlie’s Angelsstar added that while they were seeing her movie Red One, where she co-starred with Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson, he said something that almost made her cry. “I think he forgot that I was in the movie, and then, he saw me and started hugging my arm and said he was so proud of me. I almost burst into tears,” she said. Awwww!
For those who don’t know, Liu is a proud single parent to her son Rockwell, whom she welcomed in 2015 via gestational surrogate. (For those that don’t know, a gestational surrogate is when an embryo created by IVF is then implanted into a surrogate, per Cleveland Clinic!)
In a previous appearance with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager during the Today Show via UsMagazine, Liu talked about how her son made her learn so much as a grown-up.
“My son is really my teacher. He is my greatest teacher and I am a student,” she said. “Everything that you have calcified in your life as a grown-up or a person going through the experience of life kind of breaks open and starts cracking once you have a child because you learn these things don’t work.”
